Young Preschool

2–3 years | Small groups | 1:5 teacher-to-child ratio

From “I Can’t” to “I Can!”

Two-year-olds are discovering something exciting: they can do things for themselves.

At Creative Minds, our Young Preschool program gives children the nurturing relationships, encouragement, and freedom they need to become more confident and independent—while still having a secure base of caring adults to turn to.

This is a time of big emotions, growing language, new friendships, and emerging independence. Our teachers meet children where they are, helping them build skills and confidence one step at a time.

Nurturing Relationships. Growing Independence.

Our approach draws from both RIE® and Reggio-inspired practices. We continue to emphasize strong relationships and primary caregiving while giving children increasing opportunities to make choices, try new things, and take ownership of their growing abilities.

Children are encouraged to:

    • Express their needs and ideas
    • Build language and communication skills
    • Practice self-help skills such as feeding themselves and washing hands
    • Develop fine and gross motor skills
    • Make choices and try new challenges
    • Build friendships and learn to participate in a group
    • Explore through art, sensory experiences, and imaginative play
    • Develop confidence, independence, and a positive sense of self

Learning Through Play and Exploration

At two and three years old, children learn by doing.

Art, music, movement, sensory experiences, outdoor play, and hands-on exploration are woven throughout the day. Teachers follow children’s interests and use everyday experiences as opportunities to expand language, encourage problem-solving, and support cognitive and physical development.

Our children have opportunities to explore both indoors and outdoors in a park-like setting with a covered patio and mature trees.

A Small Group Where Every Child Is Known

Our 1:5 teacher-to-child ratio allows teachers to give children the individual attention and encouragement they need during this important stage of development.

Our primary caregiving approach also supports close, trusting relationships, while our small-group environment gives children the opportunity to practice social skills, make friends, and learn how to be part of a community.

A Partnership With Families

We know that every two-year-old is different. Some are eager to try everything; others need more time and encouragement. Some are ready for independence; others still need plenty of reassurance.

Our teachers work closely with families to understand each child’s personality, developmental stage, and individual needs. Through daily communication and observations, we celebrate progress, share discoveries, and work together to support your child’s growth.

Our Goal

To help children move from dependence toward independence—while knowing they always have a caring adult nearby to support them.

A place where “I can’t” becomes “I can.”
A place where confidence grows through everyday experiences.
A place where children discover the joy of doing things for themselves.
